Assignment #6 Seen but the Unseen

My original idea was first the shoe laces.... then the ball point pen, and the razor I just wanted to give it a shot (ha, no pun intended.) I was trying really hard to get the shoe laces to sort of pop out naturally but, unfortunately, I think it came out too fake. As for the ball point pen, I do like the way it came out, but I think I might have made it just a little too dark. I'm also not really liking the greyish color. Ironically enough, I like the way my razor picture came out the best.

My Favorite Band

I have to say that 3 Doors Down is my absolute number one favorite band of ALL time. I've seen them 3 times so far in concert and was lucky enough to have met them twice. The above pics are from the different shows (from NJ, to NYC, to Scranton, PA). They are by far the sweetest group of guys I've ever met. They're so grateful to their fans, and put on the coolest performances on stage. They've put out 4 albums, their most recent was released this summer their self titled album. It's hard to pick a favorite song since I love all the songs on all their albums. I consider them a rock band, but they also have some slower tunes. They're not vulgar so you don't have to change the channel if your parents are riding along with you in the car, and anyone can relate to their lyrics. All of their radio hits are awesome, but don't limit yourself to thinking that's the only stuff that's good that they've produced. Off their new album, I suggest you check out "Runaway" and "Pages".  I could go on and on about them but I'll end it here.

P.S. "Ticket to Heaven" and "The Road I'm On" both awesome... ok now I'm done. Bye!

Over the Summer

It's pretty late at night, and I've gotta wake up early to register for classes tomorrow- but I keep thinking about the dream I had last night. In it was a boy, Alex, of whom I met in Tanzania this summer. We had a small language barrier, but neither one of us really noticed during our pick-up soccer games or volleyball. I keep thinking about him and his friends that we met. How generous and incredibly humble they all were. Catholic is working on a project to fill a container full of computers and basic needs that they can use; even text books to start with a better quality of education. I'm in charge of one of the crews to get the ball rolling on this project, and it's a lot harder than we all were expecting. But, hopefully we'll be able to get it in motion. Above is a small amount of what we had.

Assignment #5

Belt

March 23, 2009

yesterday was a day to play hookie... my friends and I took a drive up to NYC to spend the day enjoying the concrete jungle. We really went to the city to see the Allman Brothers play at the Beacon theater. We bought tickets from our english teacher who is friends with the band and opens this opportunity to anyone who's interested. So my friends and I decided to make a day of it. Being from Long Island I was able to see my family. My brother has an internship in the city and my parents got tickets to see the show too. It was such a cool concert- they jammed out for 3 hours. We got on the road around 1:30 am. Then we had to drive back to school; we made it from NYC to DC in 3 1/2 hours.... Needless to say, I'm a little tired today.

Sunday Night

It's been a good weekend, I had my first outdoor track meet of the season yesterday, and we did pretty well overall. I competed in high jump (which I've never really done before), Javelin, 100m high hurdles, and lead off for our 4x100 meter relay (one of my favorite races). My body is hurtin' pretty bad today, but I've gotta get used to it since my amount of events will only grow as the season goes on, cause my coach is training me for the heptathlon in our championship meet which is in like 5 weeks.

I should be typing a Philosophy paper right now, but it takes way too much thinking and I figured I'd do one of my three posts for photo instead. So here we go, post numero uno.

I don't have any pictures from my meet because they're on my friends camera, but instead I wanted to post some from my spring break trip to Montana from Habitat for Humanity...

Assignment #4 Lighting

1

2a

2b

3

4

5

I picked photos 3 and 5 because I was drawn to the way the shadows made the light jump out of the picture. The light comes from a very distinctive source and the source can be located easily. Also, for pictures 1, 2a, 2b, and 4 I chose them because of how the light was reflected onto another surface. I felt this characteristic of the light gave the picture a very dramatic affect.
