Aperture!!

If I did this right I think the one directly below is maximum aperture, and the second photo is minimum aperture.

Using Photoshop

These are some of the photos I used in my final portfolio for class. I liked the way the black and white ones came out, I felt it brought my pictures to a new depth. I also really like the sunny day picture because it was a spur of the moment type of shot that just seemed to work out. I'm still working on that aperture photo. I'll have it posted later...

Last Week

So I never posted last week because I thought not having an assignment due meant that we didn't have postings to do... Wooops. Especially since last week I was working on fixing my first assignment of Shutter Speed and Aperture. I've got two photos that work pretty well with my shuter speed- but I'm still working on my aperture ones. I'll try and post them later on. Here's my slow shutter speed:

here's my fast shutter speed:

Assignment #8- Photo Essay

The following pictures tell a story of a young man who has lost the ones he loved more than anoyone. He is only beginning the grieving process. Every little thing stands out, as the unnoitced tends to do when the focus of your life disappears; then slowly things begin to fade.

(Hopefully you were able to follow this, I tried to get this done over Easter Break and had a lovely time trying to figure out what story I could be able to tell via photographs.... Luckily enough I had a dreary idea on a dreary day and the above all fell into place.)

Casual Thoughts

I love the beach.... It was the one gross day out of the entire break, but I decided to use it to my advantage because I changed my idea for my photo essay and a gray gloomy day fits my idea perfectly. However, I did want some pretty pictures of the beach just for my personal photo albums but it's okay since I'm becoming an expert on photoshop maybe I'll turn them into nice weather pictures. So anyway, this was taken at a Beach, but that's as specific as I'm getting cause there's creepy people on the net. It was a gross day (it'll come to play later on my next post), but it was kind of nice since no one was there to bother us. I'll write more later- I need some sleep. GOODNIGHT.

Why I hate track

It's almost 2 in the morning and I have to wake up so that I can swim in a pool for my 7 a.m. track practice. I'm tired and would be more than happy to just sleep through my alarm tomorrow morning. I just got back from NY for Easter break (which was awesome), and helped out baba with the container we're shipping over to Africa (which is another huge process going on right now in my life and another source of stress). It's coming along, but taking ALOT of time. Time I should have spent doing my papers with... woops. But, home was awesome and I got to hang out with my dog that I missed so much and my boyfriend spent the vacation with me so I had a blast.

Assignment # 7 The Ordinary Being Extraodinary

I combined the above ordinary pictures in order to create something extraodinary:

Easter!!

I go home tomorrow for Easter!! I miss my dog and a home cooked dinner by mom. It'll be a good break, gotta type some papers, but eh, at least they'll get done and I won't have to worry about them when I get back to school. Happy Easter to all the Catholics out there and happy break to everyone else!!

The Weekend

The weekend started off Friday night with a game of Cranium with my two roommates, my boyfriend, one of their boyfriends, and one of my teammates. We played three on three and my team (me, my boyfriend, and my teammate) won. One of my roomies was pretty upset considering she thought she was pretty good at the game. I had to go to bed at a decent hour since I had another meet on Saturday. It went O.K. considering the conditions. I felt like we competed during a tornado. The wind was crazyyyyyy. Our 4x1 relay ran our fastest time so far all season which was pretty cool- but my hurdles race was pretty bad. My knees feel like they're getting worse and worse lately. Anyway, it was a long day at the meet; we got back to campus around 9 p.m. after leaving at 7 a.m. I went out to a party after that, but I was exhausted. Woke up the next day around one (I know I'm a bum). My boyfriend surprised me by taking me out to the Botanic Gardens since it was so nice out. The metro was insane with people seeing the Cherry Blossoms (something I after 3 years here have not done yet). We were gonna go check them out after the gardens but we were too tired and hungry. So we went to chinatown to get some grub. I grabbed a wrap from chop't and he headed off to Fuddruckers. I brought my wrap into Fuds and got yelled at by some manager woman who needed an attitude adjustment. Even though her meanness did postpone the enjoyment of my wrap- it did not taint it's goodness. Oh, so I was kind of a creeper at the gardens taking pics of kids but they were just too cute and I had to! See for yourself:

Assignment #6 Seen but the Unseen

My original idea was first the shoe laces.... then the ball point pen, and the razor I just wanted to give it a shot (ha, no pun intended.) I was trying really hard to get the shoe laces to sort of pop out naturally but, unfortunately, I think it came out too fake. As for the ball point pen, I do like the way it came out, but I think I might have made it just a little too dark. I'm also not really liking the greyish color. Ironically enough, I like the way my razor picture came out the best.

My Favorite Band

I have to say that 3 Doors Down is my absolute number one favorite band of ALL time. I've seen them 3 times so far in concert and was lucky enough to have met them twice. The above pics are from the different shows (from NJ, to NYC, to Scranton, PA). They are by far the sweetest group of guys I've ever met. They're so grateful to their fans, and put on the coolest performances on stage. They've put out 4 albums, their most recent was released this summer their self titled album. It's hard to pick a favorite song since I love all the songs on all their albums. I consider them a rock band, but they also have some slower tunes. They're not vulgar so you don't have to change the channel if your parents are riding along with you in the car, and anyone can relate to their lyrics. All of their radio hits are awesome, but don't limit yourself to thinking that's the only stuff that's good that they've produced. Off their new album, I suggest you check out "Runaway" and "Pages".  I could go on and on about them but I'll end it here.

P.S. "Ticket to Heaven" and "The Road I'm On" both awesome... ok now I'm done. Bye!

Over the Summer

It's pretty late at night, and I've gotta wake up early to register for classes tomorrow- but I keep thinking about the dream I had last night. In it was a boy, Alex, of whom I met in Tanzania this summer. We had a small language barrier, but neither one of us really noticed during our pick-up soccer games or volleyball. I keep thinking about him and his friends that we met. How generous and incredibly humble they all were. Catholic is working on a project to fill a container full of computers and basic needs that they can use; even text books to start with a better quality of education. I'm in charge of one of the crews to get the ball rolling on this project, and it's a lot harder than we all were expecting. But, hopefully we'll be able to get it in motion. Above is a small amount of what we had.
